Atomic Energy Central School, Mysore was founded on 5th March, 1991 with 77 students, 1 regular Teacher, 5 adhoc teachers, 1 LDC and 1 MT Staff, to cater to the educational need of the wards of the employees of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre(BARC) , Mysore, a unit of BARC, Mumbai. The school was initially housed in the Club House of the residential colony at Yelwal, located about 20 kms from Mysore city. Subsequently, in 1997 the school was shifted to the present building. Presently the school has 520 students, a Principal, Vice Principal, Headmistress, 37 teachers, 2 office staff and 4 MT staff. The School is managed by Atomic Energy Education Society, Mumbai (an Autonomous body under Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India). The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The first batch of standard X students appeared for the AISSE in March, 1997. Since then the school has been maintaining excellent pass record in the examination. The school has won the Prestigious Vikram Sarabhai trophy awarded for the most progressive school for the period 2002-2005 and the Dr. Homi Bhabha Trophy for overall performance in the academic year 2004 and 2005. Both the awards are constituted by Atomic Energy Education Society, Mumbai.

In 2009 the school was upgraded to the Senior Secondary Level. The school has well established Science laboratories, computer laboratories, Library, activity rooms, a satellite interactive terminal room (ASTER Lab) and other infra structural facilities. The first batch of standard XII students appeared for the AISSCE in March 2011 and the results were really encouraging, as 4 students could secure admission in prestigious Medical Colleges of the State, 1 student in NIT, Suratkal and several others in various engineering and other professional colleges. The results of the second batch of students also made as proud with the first rank holder, Master V.Pranav scoring 95.2 percent of marks in the board examination, 2012. He also secured 252nd rank in CET Karnataka, 752nd rank in KVPY and 267th rank in AIEEE and 8707th rank in IIT entrance test. The school has been maintaining excellent records in Co-curricular fields as well.

A few of our child Prodigies have taken the name of the school even to the international level in the field of Chess and Karate. The commitment of the dedicated staff of the school in providing quality education to the students forms the core of all our programmes and initiatives. The teachers of the school share an emotional bond with each and every student of the school. We acknowledge the valuable contributions of Administrators / Heads and staff of the yester years, in the march towards enviable progress of the school. The ground we tread and the scepter we wield have been sanctified by their toil and sweat. All of them are remembered with worshipful reverence. There is no doubt that AECS Mysore has crossed many mile stones. But many more remain to be crossed. We aim to march towards greater conquests.
